The End!

We finally made it through the end of semester!

Here is a celebratory video (yes, Shayla, it is on Youtube): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D09DCZryG2U

Office Prank #4

I thought I should give my iMovie a place on my blog. Now, everyone can see it.

now that is an ad for jeans!

Check out this billboard for jeans. In case you can't see it, the text reads: At this moment, your bum is completely exposed. If it were in a sexy pair of jeans, it would attract attention all the time!

Nice! Too bad the idea doesn't work in brochure form.

michelle's true soulmate

Here she is: the sweatpants monster! Where was she when we were doing the iMovies? Michelle, this post is for you. Thanks for always commenting on my blog. You rock, girl!

totally wired blogs

Before this class, I had never really looked at blogs, except for some my friends kept in college. But professional blogs? No way. I recently discovered that Wired magazine has a whole set of blogs. Most are news related in some way. Autopia features breaking news on new car developments and alternative fuels.

The writing is decent, and they usually have super sultry photos of souped-up cars (of course the photo right now is kind of boring, though). If you go, try not to drool on your monitor.

keep on blogging?

Do any of you think you will keep up your blogs after class is over? I kind of like reading them now. Of course, there is no pressure to continue them in full three-posts-a-week-holidays-inclusive force.

The "Real" Final Review

Our days as Words and Images students are drawing to a close. I know I will want to cut loose at the close of our monumental 15-week journey. If you want to meet for happy hour after class, please give me suggestions for a good place. I am indecisive about such things. We should probably plan to meet at 4:00, after all the meetings are over. Or, people can show up and start early.

tick and tell

Yes, I finally succumbed to the pressure to edit the name "show and tell." I guess this title doesn't even make sense, since nothing is ticking, but I am keeping it anyway.

This week, I brought some samples of my ticket collection. Since I moved to the city and downsized my living space, tickets are the only thing I have the luxury to collect.

I especially enjoy tickets with holographic pieces or images. I begrudgingly save the Ticketmaster tickets, but the Internet tickets are an abomination and must only be saved as a last resort if I really need them as a concert memento.

running out of time

Can anyone offer insight on my jeans brochure? Amy says that the photos are better, but I haven't improved the design concept. I'm not really sure what that means. Do you see any major flaws with how I am approaching this? Thanks!!

mushy metaphor

If any of you have eaten a 1.5 oz box of Sun-Maid Raisins, you may have noticed the messages that greet you when you open the top flap. On this box, I found the message: "A handful of raisins is like a bunch of smiles in your mouth."

Um, okay, how does a smile get inside your mouth, and why is there more than one in there? I am lost in mixed-metaphor land. Better luck next time Sun-Maid.

nice delivery

DiGiorno has had the same tagline for years: "It's not delivery. It's DiGiorno." I tried the pizza once years ago, and they're right. It's not delivery. Yet, this ad really made me want to hit the frozen food aisle. Why? The pizza looks AMAZING! Not only that, the layout is appealing, and the copy outlines several benefits of choosing DiGiorno: No Calling. No Tipping. No Kidding.

Sign me up!

spooktacular show and tell

For show and tell this week, I brought a sample of an invitation my roommate and I created. I've only been exposed to making handmade cards for a short while, but it is a fun hobby, and you have a lot of control over the product. It's a great idea to try for anyone who likes paper.
